Fashion in Catalunia

I went to Spain to take part in a workshop at Afilm Institute, which lasted three months.
It was a cinematography (camera and lighting) workshop with the Panavision instructor Juan Fernandez.
After the first month there I met lots of people and found myself doing a fashion day shoot with more than ten models, most of them I was not introduced to before the shoot.
So I prepared my back up art direction and did everything on location, manipulating the day light using many reflectors and diffusers.

Conceptual Fashion Shoot 2011

A freelance fashion photography for a Lebanese Fashion Designer.
I tried to integrate the brand in the shoot through the cinematic lighting and decoration I created.
I could have used studio flash but I always prefer to go into the still light, which allows me to create a cinematic mood, therefore I worked on this project as if it was a short movie; by rehearsing with many models before, and by aliening the chosen model through the wig and the make up.
The fact that I create my own decoration with the lighting, allowed me to deliver the mood I imagined to this shoot.

Distorted Gaze 2010

I walk by alone, in the empty streets, passing by the motionless stores.
Calm yet bizarre, the mannequins stare at me, longing for my gaze, trying to share their thoughts.
Each mannequin has her own character; while looking into their eyes, they move me.

One by one they are influenced by what we make them wear.
By taking these photographs I attempted to bring life into these faces. I tried to alter their sad reality by taking a double and triple exposure on every single face, making them virtually get away.
Each character spoke to me differently, and gave me the liberty to pair her up with an alternative imagery.

A street quote full of meaning but lacking appearance, paired up with an alive puppet with a perfected and plastic look... "Distorted Gaze"

All the photographs are taken straight from a diaporama slide film scan without any editing, therefore the editing was made during the shoot and not the post part.
These photos were exhibited in the Lebanese Photographers Journal and Spread Minds Lebanon, and they were selected in many competitions.

Portraits 2010

While working as an art director for a film, I was inspired by well-known actors present in this project itself so I decided to take a portrait of them.

The Discovery of an abandoned Hotel 2009

Traveling across Lebanon, I noticed a huge hotel from afar, it attracted me to go further and see closely its situation, and once I got into it, i discovered that it was abandoned through out the Lebanese war; and decided to shoot it later to find rabbits living therein, I also found mysteriously a small aquarium with a golden fish swimming inside, I was really intrigued by this small experience.
I later used this location to shoot the model.

Family in Baalbeck Documentary 2009

I shot a documentary concerning a family living in Baalbeck so I did my research and I chose this family there. The oldest woman in Lebanon was living in that house, age 130; so I took her portrait with a child to symbolize the contrast.
